Need for Vancouver Flood Restoration May Rise If Flood Prevention Measures Are Not Taken

"Because of its position and elevation, Vancouver has always been at risk for flood. However, this new study warns of an increased risk based on “an increase in sea levels of between 0.2 and 0.4 metres by 2050 caused by melting continental ice sheets.” Other factors considered by the study are population, flood protection infrastructure, and elevation of storms. Flooding causes major inconveniences not only because it disrupts the flow of everyday activities. Depending on its extent, flooding may also bring minor to large-scale financial losses to both individuals and businesses. This is why it is recommended that flood restoration in Vancouver be done within three days of flooding to avoid the escalation of problems like the infestation of moulds or the destruction of infrastructures."
